If you’re a fan of roses, do not forget to visit Rose Garden / Roseraie du Val de Marne.
The address in the Rue Albert WATEL – 94 240 L’Hay-les-Roses. If ride metro get off at Porte d’Italie then continue by bus 186 or 184 (if holiday, the bus 286). If increased RER station down in Bourg-la-Reine then go by bus 172 or 192.
The best time to visit is June because it was nearly all the roses bloom; there are thousands of rose with many colors, sizes and shapes. There are climbing pergolas roses for gazebo or fence, there is a collection of modern roses, old roses, or roses botanical.
Come should soften the morning, so you have plenty of time to round the park which is the first rose garden in the world. Was first made by the owner – Mr. Jules Gravereaux – in the year 1894 (then still a mere hobby garden), and in 1899 hired Mr. Mr. Edouard André Gravereaux to develop it with a professional garden design. Since 1910 Mr. Jules Gravereaux already collected 8000 species rose from everything. Unfortunately today there remains only 3300 species of roses and 85% of it is old-fashioned roses. The number of all existing rose bushes this day is 16 000 trees / plant.
Rose garden is open to the public from mid May – mid-September, from 10 am until 8 pm. In the month of June there are music concerts each afternoon at 17:00. Entrance fee is 3 euros for adults and anak2 age more than 15 years. Discount tickets for 01.05 euros kids ages 5-15 years, parents aged> 60 yrs, students, veterans and for groups of more than 15 people. Free admission to anak2 under five years, French government officials, journalists who use id cards, school anak2 Val de Marne region.
In the park you will enjoy different garden designs with a primary focus on La roseraie a la française (formal rose garden), there are also the oriental rose garden, a botanical collection of roses, Mrs. Gravereux rose garden.
